First Grilled Whole Chicken

Today, I did an attempt on grilling a whole chicken. I went to the wet market in the morning to get a fresh chicken. ;)

Below shows the chicken grilling in the oven
Here is the chicken grilled, I wondered how does it taste?
I used a scissor to cut open the chicken (easy way out which works)
The internal of the chicken. I stuffed some coriander, onions and a whole lemon.
The plate of whole chicken ready to eat.
Nice cold ice Oolong tea to go together with the dinner
I prepared mashed potatoes and some boiled carrot and broccoli to go with the chicken. Doraemon likes forequarter (breast & Wings) and I like the leg quarter
The chicken is juicy and tender, really very yummy. I got the chicken for $6 in the wet market. The whole dinner is less than $8 for two of us. Healthy for tummy, healthy for pocket.

Steamed Hairy Crabs, Grilled Fish, Sakura Chicken Wings and Cocktail Saussage

Got 2 new little friends today. It was quite fun to see them moving around in the kitchen sink, getting rid of the dirt on them ;)
See how hairy are them.. All the hair on its legs and claws
I also tried to do a grilled fish (I treat the fish as a chicken :X) but as the flesh is being cook, the fish gave way and suicide on the aluminium foil >,<
The steamed hairy crabs
Some cocktail saussage and sakura chicken wings. Sakura chicken wings are so much more expensive ~80++ cents each... but It taste so much more tender.
See the suicided fish? haha... I also add some leftover yam from mid autumn festival ;P It doesn't look good but taste good!
Doraemon finished most of it, he only fed me two small pieces ;(
See the roe inside.. It's not fleshy at all... I would prefer normal crabs then.. Until someone paid for it! It cost about $6 each. Two hairy crabs = $12.
Till the next update ;P

Teriyaki Chicken Mid Joints and Eggplant with Cheese & Ham

I marinated the above chicken mid joints with kikkoman teriyaki marinade for a day, and toasted the mid joints in the toaster oven, 10 minutes on each side. Total preparation time (excluding marinting) = 20 minutes =)
There's still some cheese and ham left over, so I put them into egg plant cups. These egg plants are very delicious, from japan. I realised that they do not have so much seeds inside. This simple dish is easy to prepare and take very little cooking time. 10-12 minutes inside the toaster oven or when the cheese browns.

Recipe for Eggplant with ham and cheese
(Total cooking time: 10-12 minutes)

Today is the first time we do major manvouring with the wheel chair as my sis and I took my grandma to IMM. All my relatives were so worried about my grandma! My father come to fetch us, but ended up with a dead engine halfway through. It's our first experience! My second uncle, cousin & Husband came to our rescue! We tried a unsuccessful jump start. Followed by the evergreen pushing of the lorry just like in the movies and It works!!!

My feet were badly "injured" by the wheel chair and it hurts so much when I bathe. My stupid sister keep bumping the wheel chair into my ankle also =(
I think it's going to hurt for a few more days...

Japanese Cooking

Was at home cooking at my friend's house. We bought some shell and put them on this grill thing to cook. First time trying to cook by this method, very interesting to me ;)

After some time, the shells will open us, exclaiming "EAT ME!!! EAT ME!!!" hehe, of course I will eat u lah, if not buy for what! After pouring a bit of soya sauce into the yummy flesh, it's ready to be eaten. YUM YUM...Also got some sashimi from the super market...Look at the large variety!!! but I think I only know how to eat limited varieties! I like salmon belly sashimi a lot, but there's none in this platter. ;( However, the scallop (ほたて) is very sweet and taste good!

Next time we tried cooking is chicken karaage. It's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Simply heavenly!!!

Japanese Curry Udon

Today's Monday, i did not go for my keyboard lesson again. It seems so long since I have attended a single lesson. There's so many excuses and excuses happening on monday evenings. I miss the lessons so much. :~

Went home and spent the whole evening cooking japanese curry udon (2 hours cooking, 1 hour eating). Here's the ingredients.

Carrots, Potatoes and Onions cubes.
Chicken Cubes
Udon
Japanese Curry Sauce Mix

The following instructions are mostly copied & modified from the cooking direction on the packaging, according to how I'd like my Japanese curry to be. =P

Stir-fly meat & onions in oil until onions are lightly browned (just take note of the edge of the onion will do).
Add the carrots and potatoes and continue to stir-fry.
Add Hot Water (I use Hot Water from the flask) , S&B GOLDEN CURRY SAUCE MIX and bring to boil. Stir until completely melted.
Cover & simmer. I think I simmer for at least 1.5 hours. I'd like everything to just melt inside my mouth. After that, boil the water in another pot, scald the udon (i'd like the udon to be slightly over cooked too! i think I 吃软不吃硬 )
Here's the final product, nice taste however, still lotsa room for improvement. I think cooking for 3 hours would taste better :P
